Thanksgiving Weekend

We spent the weekend with Matt's family. Here are a few highlights.

It was fantastic to have the five grandkids from Matt's side all together. Luke holding David, Josh, Abby Kate holding Avery. Too much cuteness!

A rare moment when Josh was not running straight for the lake.

Abby Kate was kind enough to let Josh color with her.

Saturday we went to a Christmas tree farm.

Mike & Casey with their girls on the hayride at the tree farm.

Mommy & Josh on the hayride.

Abby Kate & Luke

Finding the right tree is thirsty work.

Josh thinks this is the winner.

Luke & Abby Kate help Uncle Mike cut down the tree. Josh supervises.

Enjoying the hayride (while trying to climb over the side)

Rocket Man

Josh has now taken to actually riding his rocket around rather than pushing it close to other things to aid in his climbing efforts.

Off with a sippy in each hand.

Showing the microwave rack a good time.

Horton Hears It's Halloween

Sporting the devil shirt Grandma made him and acting a bit devilish

Helping Daddy greet the trick or treaters

Attempting to hand out spices as treats

Skeleton jammies!

Ready for trick or treating

He did not appreciate the hat - especially the trunk - until people started making a big deal over him. When he realized people thought it was cute he started hamming it up.

Enjoying some of his loot.

Camping at Cedar Hill State Park

Helping Daddy set up the tent

The combination of our campsite being sloped plus the endless mud due to the rains lately plus amateur walking skills added up to lots of spills.

Sitting in the mud and hoisting a pant leg to show off the fuzzy jammies under his jeans and sweatshirt, all while maintaining a firm grip on his pancake.

Josh's Vocabulary

Josh is slowly but surely building his vocabulary. The list of recognizable words that he says includes Hi, Otis, Dog, Hot (when pointing out candles) and Ball. I'd like to point out, with no bitterness, that a couple of key typical first words are missing from this list. I did not forget. We're still waiting for Mommy and Daddy.

Here are some recent shots of Josh enjoying the giant balloon that Grandma Wallace got for him at the East Texas state fair. This falls into the ball category, he does not differentiate between balls and balloons.

Puzzled

The other day Josh and Otis worked on an alphabet puzzle together. Josh hands the pieces to Otis who very gently grabs the piece just hard enough to take it, and then makes a pile of the pieces.

I love this one because it looks like Otis is studying the pieces to determine how to put the puzzle back together.
