Josh's Vocabulary

Josh is slowly but surely building his vocabulary. The list of recognizable words that he says includes Hi, Otis, Dog, Hot (when pointing out candles) and Ball. I'd like to point out, with no bitterness, that a couple of key typical first words are missing from this list. I did not forget. We're still waiting for Mommy and Daddy.

Here are some recent shots of Josh enjoying the giant balloon that Grandma Wallace got for him at the East Texas state fair. This falls into the ball category, he does not differentiate between balls and balloons.

Puzzled

The other day Josh and Otis worked on an alphabet puzzle together. Josh hands the pieces to Otis who very gently grabs the piece just hard enough to take it, and then makes a pile of the pieces.

I love this one because it looks like Otis is studying the pieces to determine how to put the puzzle back together.

My Soapbox

If you have a little one, please, please, PLEASE get them a flu shot! I'm not saying this because of the H1N1 this year; kids die from the seasonal flu every year. Josh got his last year, he already got his for this year, and he will be receiving the H1N1 vaccine as soon as it's available. (Same goes for Matt and me - so grown ups, I think you should be vaccinated, too!) Kids under 6 months can't get it, and the best way to protect them is to get everyone around them vaccinated. If I can answer any questions, please feel free to email me.

Go Blue!

Fall Saturdays are for college football, and more specifically Michigan football! Josh was all decked out.

Sporting his "On my way to the Big House" bib

Josh now knows that the camera means he should smile. He also gets excited and approaches the camera so we're ending up with lots of extreme close ups

First Haircut

The first haircut actually occurred on 8/8 so I'm a bit behind.

The why:

Cool Cuts 4 Kids has a great staff - they completely understood that Josh was going to be a spaz and require distracting.

Mohawk:

Not too sure about this whole experience.

The finished product with a little spaghetti sauce as a styling agent.

Big Boy

Drumming on the utility pole in the front yard - a nightly activity.

Big belly pride! Thanks to Uncle Mike & Aunt Casey for the adorable lobster trunks!

Uncle Kurt and Aunt Shannon sent a Retro Rocket for Josh's birthday. He loves it. I'd love it if he'd sit on it like a normal person.

These next few pictures are evidence of what a big boy Josh is now. He can climb all the way up the stairs. Getting down is another story.

Saturday night he started feeding himself with a spoon!
